The Wiener 500

Dachshunds Race to the Finish Line in Southwest

The first annual Wiener 500 dachshund race was held this past Saturday. Organized by OnTap Magazine as a benefit for PAWS of Southwest, the community group fighting for a neighborhood dog park, the competition pitted dachshunds of all varieties in a mad dash from one end of Southwest Landing to another. A crowd numbering more than 200 hundred enjoyed the sunshine, sipped beer and cheered the racers on. The event, which raised more than $1,000 for PAWS, is a follow up to last spring’s Chihuahua race.
