There was a sidewalk purse-snatching on the 1600 block of East Capitol St. at 8:35 p.m.

The assault with a deadly weapon on the 100 block of N St. SW in a sports field at 9:15 a.m.

There was a burglary at 11 a.m. at an undisclosed residence in PSA 104.

There was a car stolen on the 600 block of 21st St. NE.

There were thefts on:

  • the 1600 block of Benning Rd. NE;

  • the 600 block of the 12th St. NE at a residence;

  • the 1000 block of First St. SE at a bar.

Evening Robbery on the 200 Block of Fifth Street SE

There was a sidewalk robbery on the 200 block of Fifth St. SE at 9:43 p.m. Four men approached a pedestrian from behind. They demanded his belongings at gunpoint. They fled eastbound on Pennsylvania Ave. SE.

There was a knifing on the 1700 block of Independence Ave. SE at 3:45 a.m. An unknown man stabbed a pedestrian from behind and fled the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

MPD Makes Arrests in Recent Robberies

The Crime Blotter - December 20

The police arrested a juvenile male for an assault that took place on Dec. 16 at 5:35 p.m. on the 100 block of 17th St. NE. A victim was robbed by seven males, and assaulted when he resisted. The suspect was charged with Assault with Intent to Rob.

The police arrested two adult males from the robbery that took place on Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. on the 700 block of Seventh St. NE. The two men allegedly approached two pedestrians, brandished a knife and assaulted one of them. An iPhone was stolen. The suspects have been charged with Robbery While Armed.

Eastern Market Holiday Hours

The Eastern Market will be open during Christmas week on Monday and Tuesday. It will be closed on Christmas Day and the following Thursday.

The Market will be open New Year's week on Monday and Tuesday. It will be closed on New Year's Day and the following Thursday.

Three Sidewalk Robberies

There was a sidewalk robbery on the 800 block of Seventh St. NE at 8 p.m.

There was an attempted sidewalk robbery on the 600 block of Water St. SW at 5:40 p.m.

There was a violent, sidewalk robbery at an undisclosed location in PSA 108 at 4:30 p.m.

There was a purse-snatching at an undisclosed location in PSA 507 at 8:30 a.m.

There was an assault with deadly weapon at a convenience store on the 1100 block of Fourth St. SW at 8:54 p.m.

More Information on Recent 10th Street Robbery

The Crime Blotter

On Dec. 17 at 10:48 p.m., two pedestrians were walking in the 200 block of 10th St. SE. A man armed with a gun approached them from behind, snatched a handbag from one of the two and fled westbound on D St. SE. No one was injured.

The First District Detectives Unit has the incident under investigation. Police is looking for a suspect described as a black male, approximately 5 foot 9 inches wearing a facial mask.

Former Gallaudet Professor Killed in Traffic Accident

Service Dog Survives To Be Reunited With Family

On Wed., Dec. 18 at approximately 3 p.m., 90-year-old Frances Margret Parsons of Town Square Towers (TST), 700 Seventh St. SW, was walking her service dog, Wopert, on G St. SW at the northern ramp to TST's parking garage. She was struck by a 2013 black Porsche Cayenne S exiting the garage.

Parsons died of her injuries at local hospital. The case is under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crash Unit.
