Ditto Residential announced plans Jan. 31 to join the development of townhouse condos and apartments at Watkins Alley, next to Frager’s Hardware and bounded by 1309-1323 E St. SE and 516 13th St. SE. Construction is set to start in 2018.

On Jan. 28, the District laid out several options that the Hill East community can consider for the long-awaited redevelopment of the Eastern Branch Boy and Girls Club building (261 17th St. SE). Ideas include rental housing, an emergency shelter, a worship center, a government facility, a small health care facility, a public or charter school or a community and recreation center.

On Jan. 25, the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board called on the owners of and managers at Bearnaise (315 Pennsylvania Ave. SE), We the Pizza (305 Pennsylvania Ave. SE) and Good Stuff Eatery (303 Pennsylvania Ave. SE) to clean up trash and grease management as conditions for the renewal of their retail licenses Class DR and CR.

Traffic Delays Around Navy Yard

Starting Jan. 30, the Navy Yard will hold annual security exercises that could increase traffic or delays in and around the Yard in Southeast. The exercises will end Feb. 10.

The Navy notified military family members and employees that work at the sites of the possible disruptions to their normal schedules. For the surrounding community, these disruptions could include increased traffic from gate closures at the Yard and possible unexpected activity around the site, which is bounded by Fourth Street, M Street and 11th Street SE. 

How to Apply for ANC 6C Grants

ANC 6C has opened its grant application process for the 2017 fiscal year for established or new nonprofits. The deadlines for submissions this year are Feb. 9, May 11, Aug. 17 and Nov. 2.
