RFK Update Includes Half a Billion in Plans

Multiplex Sports Facility, Market Hall, Play Fields, Bridges Across Anacostia Planned

Events DC met with community members on Jan. 5 to lay out the $489.6 million short-term master plan for the redevelopment of RFK Stadium and the 190-acre lot around it in Ward 7.

With the DC United soccer team moving to its new stadium in Southwest, the city and community are developing plans on how to re-imagine and reenergize the space. Max Brown, Mayor Muriel Bowser’s appointment as chair of the Events DC board, told the large crowd at Thursday’s meeting that the short-term plan intends to bring the community together through five project spaces.

Prep Your House and Self for the Impending Snow

DC is prepping for snow and potentially icy conditions Jan. 5 going into Jan. 6. More than 220 plows will be ready to deploy, and the District agencies already pre-treated the roadways on Wednesday to prevent freezing. Snow could start as early as 4 p.m. Thursday.

Help Find the Skittish Chihuahua

Have you seen this dog? Emi, a 12-pound yellow chihuahua, went missing near Capitol Hill and toward the Navy Yard and Yards Park area.

Emi’s owner warns people not to chase the dog because she is shy, but to call or text 206-321-1171 if anyone sees the dog. The owner is offering a money reward for help.

Emi is also wearing a red Washington Nationals collar and tag.
