An ANC 6B Special Call Meeting to consider the future status of Seventh Street SE will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 29th. The meeting is the third public meeting to consider the topic this month. At 9:03 a.m. Wednesday, a woman was arrested on the 600 block of H Street NE on charges of Second Degree Cruelty to Children. At 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, a woman was arrested on the 1800 block of Benning Road NE on charges of Aggravated Assault. The 2017 DC Shorts Film Festival will call the Hill home for their closing weekend, Friday September 15th through Sunday September 17th. Competitions, panels and film screenings will take place at the Miracle Theater (535 Eighth Street SE) and at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) at 545 7th Street SE. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Youth and Family Services Division, Physical and Sexual Abuse Branch announced that an arrest has been made in a Misdemeanor Child Sexual Abuse offense that occurred on Wednesday December 7, 2016 in the 1800 block of East Capitol Street, Southeast. Between 75 and 100 residents of the Hill attended the Eclipse Viewing Party at the DC Public Library Southeast Branch (403 Seventh Street SE) on the afternoon of Monday August 21st. The District experienced an 81 percent eclipse that peaked at about 2:42 p.m. in the afternoon. It was not a complete eclipse, but it is a rare occurance and the neighborhood was rightfully fascinated. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) First District have made an arrest in an attack with a knife that took place Friday August 18 on the 1200 block of Delaware Avenue SW. At around 11:00 p.m., two people approached a person at that address. In the course of the fight that followed, one of the suspects pulled a knife and stabbed the victim before running away. Join the Southeast Branch of the DC Public Library (403 Seventh St. SE) on Monday, August 21 for a viewing party during the partial solar eclipse of the sun. On Monday at 2:42 p.m., the District will experience an 81 percent eclipse of the sun. Although it will not be a total eclipse, it is an extremely rare phenomenon.
