2014 Winners of the Livable-Walkable Awards Announced

Councilmember Tommy Wells announced the winners of the 2014 Livable, Walkable Awards yesterday.

"The Livable, Walkable Awards celebrate the leadership, commitment and vision of people who are making our great city even greater," Wells said.

The 2014 categories are the Neighbor Award, Business Award, Community Organization Award, Public Service Award, and Civic Pride.

The winners are:

  • Neighbor Award: John E. Hill
  • Business Award: Atlas Vet | Dr. Matthew Antkowiak  & Dr. Chris Miller
  • Community Organization Award: Capitol Hill Community Foundation | Nicky Cymrot, President
  • Public Service Award: Officer Tyrone Hardy | Metropolitan Police Department, First District
  • Civic Pride: Arena Stage |Molly Smith, Artistic Director; Edgar Dobie, Executive Producer

The nominations for the awards, also known as 'The Brickies,' were submitted by Ward 6 residents over the last three weeks.

The eighth annual awards presentation and celebration will be held Dec. 3 at the Atlas Performing Arts Center from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

Food from local businesses including Nandos Peri-Peri, Crunkcakes, H & Pizza, Dangerously Delicious Pies, Matchbox, Harry’s Bar & Grill, and the Queen Vic will be available. Frager's Just Ask Rental, Surroundings, CreateDC and Atlas Performing Arts Center also contributed to the event.
