$90,000 Distributed From The Frager's Fund

The Capitol Hill community has donated over $130,000 to The Capitol Hill Community Foundation's (CHCF) Frager's Fund. Over 1,000 individual donations have been made.

To date, The Fund has distributed $90,000 of these monies to Frager's employees and small businesses impacted by the store's tragic fire.

“Recognizing our responsibility to protect the financial privacy of the individuals and businesses affected by the fire, we are pleased to be able to report that 50 Frager’s employees have so far received funds, and that all the tenant businesses located above the Frager’s Paint Store have been contacted to determine their needs. Several of those small businesses have requested help on behalf of their employees and received it; others are still considering what those needs might be,” states CHCF President Nicky Cymrot.

“These funds, as a concrete token of community support, have been genuinely appreciated by those receiving them,” Cymrot adds.

The Foundation continues to raise money for those impacted by the Frager's fire.

“We expect that the process of responding to particular requests will continue for many months as all those whose lives were affected adjust to new circumstances,” explains Cymrot.

"The community response has been heart warming and gratifying," states John Weintraub, Frager's owner.
