Arrest Made in Armed Carjacking

Crime Blotter: June 13

Police arrested a man Tuesday morning on changes of armed carjacking. Police located the suspect in the 100 block of 19th Street SE and arrested him at 11:33 that morning. The carjacking was reported the night of April 21, 2017 in the 300 block of O Street SW. A man making a food delivery was approached by a total of twelve people who were led by two men. According to police reports, one of the two men placed a cold metal object to the driver’s neck and ordered him to get on the ground. The delivery person lay down on the pavement as a man drove off in his vehicle and the other males ran into a nearby apartment building.

At 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, police arrested a man on charges of Assault With A Dangerous Weapon on the 1500 block of Benning Road NE.

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, police arrested a woman on the 200 block of Massachusetts Avenue NE on charges of Assault With A Dangerous Weapon.

At 11:38 a.m. Tuesday, police arrested a man on charges of Robbery on the 1900 block of D Street SE.

At 9:56 p.m. Tuesday, there was a burglary on the 1300 block of C Street NE.

Reporting Illegal Activity

Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.

When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:

  • Brief description of the activity;
  • Date, time and location of the activity;
  • Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
  • Descriptions of vehicles;
  • Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
  • Your name and contact information.
