On The Arrest of a Minor Elementary School Staff Member

Letter to Parents from Principal Anne Evans

Dear Miner Elementary School Community,

At Miner, we are committed to ensuring the utmost safety of our entire school community, and to communicating openly and honestly. I want you to know about a serious incident involving a staff member. On Thursday evening, Metropolitan District Police (MPD) released information that a staff member of Miner Elementary School was arrested on charges of misdemeanor sex abuse.

While this is still an open investigation, we are not able to share many details. However, I want to emphasize that the safety of our students is always paramount and our top priority. What I can share is that last week, when it was brought to the school’s attention that there were issues of inappropriate behavior, we took immediate and swift action sharing this information with MPD who then began an investigation right away. This staff member was put on leave. We have fully cooperated with this investigation and with MPD and will continue to do so.

Like you, I am deeply upset about these allegations. We are all shocked and concerned. Our attention remains focused on supporting our students. We also understand that this incident is sure to raise many emotions, concerns and questions for our entire school, especially our students. Our counseling team, who have all been trained to help with the needs of students, parents and school personnel, will be at our school to support our school community in any way. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your continued support.
