Celebrate 45 Years with CHAW

Free, Fun Activities for All on June 10

Celebrate the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop’s 45th anniversary at its Birthday Bash on June 10. CHAW will host free activities and performances for families and community members of all ages from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 545 Seventh St. SE.

Anyone can join CHAW’s young music students, dancers, stage actors and artists for a day full of music, food, art, friends and more. Guest performers from Light Witch Dance Theater, Taffety Punk Theatre Company and the Washington Improv Theatre will hold shows throughout the day. Here’s a run down of the schedule:

9 a.m.

  • Fun Run/Walk led by Summit to Soul owner Kim Wattrick and Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen around the Capitol Hill Alphabet Animal public art project from Summit to Soul (727 Eighth St. SE) to CHAW. The route includes 10 stops along the way with a chance to enter prize drawings.

11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  • National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) In Your Neighborhood Chamber Concert by Two Divas and a Bear.

10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

  • CHAW student music and dance recitals
  • Shop ‘n’ Drop
  • Ceramics sale
  • Student art exhibitions
  • &pizza and Sweet Lobby catering

4:30 p.m.

  • CHAW adult student show with wine, cheese and juror notes.
