Frager's Hardware and the developers of the project on the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE commemorated the start of the project's construction May 9. Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen, long-time owner of Frager's Hardware John Weintraub and project representatives from Perseus Realty launched the official start.

The Penn Eleven development covers 1101-1117 Pennsylvania and includes: 40-50 two- and three-bedroom luxury condominium units; the new Frager’s Hardware store with 8,500 square feet and outdoor space for the Garden Center; and another retail space.

Also, Frager’s Hardware recently changed hands. John Weintraub sold the store to Ace Hardware affiliate Gina Schaefer, who owns other stores around the DC region. (Here’s our Hill Rag story.)

And don’t forget! The Garden Center is still open in the interim at 1317 E St. SE.

The Perseus Realty project is slated to finish in 2019.
