Council Recognizes DC's National Ultimate Frisbee Champions

DC City Council passed a ceremonial resolution on Dec. 3 recognizing Scandal, the District’s premier women’s Ultimate team, for its recent national championship victory. Yvette Alexander (D-Ward 7), Tommy Wells (D-Ward 6), and David Grosso (I-At Large)  introduced the resolution. Grosso, a recreational ultimate player himself, led the presentation.

Scandal players Jenny Fey, Amy Hudson, Sam McClellan, Molly Roy, Lauren Sadler, and Shino Yoshen were on hand to accept. After Grosso praised the 45-5 record that Scandal amassed during the USA Ultimate Triple Crown Tour, McClellan thanked the Council for its support and said that while ultimate is not widely known, Scandal is proud to represent a sport that values sportsmanship and spirit of the game.

Scandal’s USA Ultimate National Championship win came over San Francisco Fury, a seven-time defending champion. The team will represent the United States at next summer’s world championships in Lecco, Italy.
