Firefighter Injured at Scene of House Fire in Northeast

Crime Blotter: August 2

At about 12:33 a.m., First District Police and District Fire and Emergency Medical Services (FEMS) responded to reports of fire in a house on the 800 block of F Street NE. FEMS worked several hours to put out the blaze, which had spread to the first floor and back porch.

Nobody was injured in the fire, but a spokesman for DC Fire and EMS said that a firefighter was injured working at the scene. As he pulled the hose from one vehicle, he was struck by another fire truck when it arrived at the scene. He remains in critical condition in hospital.

At 10:12 a.m. Wednesday, a man was arrested on the Unit block of Independence Avenue SW on charges of Possessing a Prohibited Weapon.

At 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, a man was arrested on the 1400 block of 11th Street SE on charges of Unlawful Possession of Liquid PCP.

When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:

  • Brief description of the activity;
  • Date, time and location of the activity;
  • Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
  • Descriptions of vehicles;
  • Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
  • Your name and contact information.
