Homicide on Gallatin Pl. NE

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred yesterday evening in Northeast.  Responding to a call at 7:39 p.m. about an accident with injuries in the 1500 block of Gallatin Pl. NE, police found 48-year-old Kevin Lanard James suffering from an apparent gun shot wound.  James, of Northwest, was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.  An autopsy will be performed to determine James’ cause and manner of death.

Police are asking for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the shooter.  A reward of up to $25,000 is offered to anyone who can provide this information.  The Metropolitan Police Department encourages anyone with information to call the police at (202)-727-9099 or text them anonymously at the MPD Text Tip Line by texting 50411.

There was an armed burglary at a home on the one block of 57th St. SE at 7:54 a.m.

There was an armed burglary at a home on the 2000 block of 32nd Pl. SE at 7:00 a.m.

There were cars stolen on:

•              the 3500 block of Hayes St. NE;

•              the 4100 block of East Capitol St. NE;

•              the 3000 block of Nelson Pl. SE.

Reporting Illegal Activity

Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.

When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:

•                Brief description of the activity;

•                Date, time and location of the activity;

•                Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;

•                Descriptions of vehicles;

•                Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;

•                Your name and contact information.
