"Journey Anacostia" Sculpture Dedicated

The dedication ceremony for "Journey Anacostia" by Wilfredo Valladares (DC-based sculptor) took place Saturday, June 22 at 1201 Good Hope Road and Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave SE. The walls behind the sculpture were turned into a colorful mural in collaboration with youth from the United Planning Organization's POWER Program. This public art installation is a joint project between DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the DC Department of Housing and Community Development.

The art installation is meant to reflect the "diverse history and heritage of the Anacostia community and seeks to inspire the viewer to establish a dialogue on the interconnection of the past, present and future of Anacostia."
