Malissa Zimmerman to Run Boston Marathon for Girl Scouts

Malissa Zimmerman will run the Boston Marathon in support of Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts (GSEM). Malissa first became involved with Girl Scouts as a Brownie and continued into high school.

GSEM has been selected as a charity of the Boston Athletic Association Boston Marathon® Official Charity Program. The funds raised by the team will support the Girl Scout council’s Get Moving Initiative, which educates girls on how to stay healthy and active. Every year, GSEM offers indoor and outdoor programming to girls at its 14 camp properties and through year-round programs. These programs educate girls on health, fitness and wellness in a variety of ways.

Malissa’s summer memories of Girl Scout camp inspired her to run for GSEM. “I believe in teaching young girls about healthy lifestyles as it not only benefits the individual but the community.”
