Police Charge Juvenile With Four Muggings

Police have arrested a juvenile male for four recent robberies that occurred between Jan. 14 and 23.

  • Jan. 14 at 8 p.m., the suspect allegedly mugged a victim getting into his parked vehicle located in an alley behind the 700 block of Eight St. SE. Implying he carried a concealed gun, the suspect demanded property; and subsequently fled with the valuables.

  • Jan. 23 at 4:38 p.m., the suspect allegedly ran up behind a commuter walking home threatening him with a knife at the corner of 11 St. and E St. NE. After obtaining his victim's cell phone, he fled..

  • Jan. 23 at 6 p.m., the suspect allegedly robbed a man walking home on the 800 block of Maryland Ave. NE. After threatening his victim with an implied weapon, he fled with the victim's cash.

  • Jan. 23 at 8 p.m., the suspect allegedly snatched a phone out of the hand of a victim walking home on the 300 block of A St. SE.

It is unclear whether the suspect will be charged as an adult or juvenlie at this time.


Why not charge him as an

Why not charge him as an adult? He'll be back on the street robbing people in a few weeks if he's in the DYRS. Let this kid cool his jets for the next 10 years in a federal prison. He might be a recidivist, but that's 10 years that he won't be robbing (or worse) good people in the neighborhood.
