Police Say No Victim Found Thursday Afternoon

UPDATE: Representatives for MPD say that earlier information provided indicating that a victim was found in a black Nissan turns out to be in error. Shots were apparently fired, but no victim has been found.

"It looks like when officers responded they didn’t find a victim.  This shooting has been recategorized to a call for the sounds of gunshots."

The representative said that police had received a phone call that a shooting victim was inside a vehicle, but when officers arrived, they didn’t find a victim.

"Unfortunately, this kind of thing happens from time to time," the representative said.

The original report follows.

Police are investigating a shooting that took place around noon Thursday near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 13th Street SE.

At around 12:26 p.m. Thursday, police received a call reporting gunshots. When they arrived at the location above, they found a man in a black Nissan. He had been shot. At time of publication, police were unable to say whether he was conscious or breathing, or whether he had been transported to hospital.

Several streets around the intersection have been blocked and there is significant police presence. Drivers may want to avoid the area.
