Police Nab Burglar

The Blotter

On Jan. 28 at approximately 2:20 p.m., First District officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress on the 300 block of Second St. SE. The caller provided a description of a masked burglar. A Mountain Bike officer spotted a man in the rear of the location removing a mask. The officer stopped the man, who was subsequently identified and arrested.

Officers discovered the suspect also possessed property stolen from residences in the 300 block of Third St. SE. Police have charged the man with two counts of Burglary-II. Further investigation has linked the suspect to two additional burglaries.

“This case was closed due to a citizen’s actions, the quick and professional response of patrol officers and the thorough investigation by detectives. A resident who witnessed suspicious activity in their neighborhood and called 911, providing a good description of the subject, initiated the entire chain of events. An outstanding example of residents advising us when they see suspicious activity,” stated First District Commander Daniel Hickson.
