Police Search for Phone Snatcher

Crime Blotter: June 15

At 1:55 p.m. Thursday, there was a daytime phone snatching on the 300 block of North Carolina Avenue SE. The victim was walking down the street when the suspect rode by on his bicycle and grabbed a phone out of the victim's hand. Police are looking for a black man with a short fade haircut. He was wearing a black t-shirt with writing on the back. If you have information on this case, call police at 202-727-9099.

At 3:20 p.m. Thursday, police arrested a man on charges of Carrying a Pistol Without a License on the Unit block of P Street SW.

Reporting Illegal Activity

Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities helps prevent crime. If a citizen sees suspicious activity, or any activity that seems out of the ordinary, immediately call 911.

When reporting suspicious activity, give an accurate description. Here are some things to include:

  • Brief description of the activity;
  • Date, time and location of the activity;
  • Physical identifiers of anyone you observed;
  • Descriptions of vehicles;
  • Information about where people involved in suspicious activities may have gone;
  • Your name and contact information.
